This is a matched DAC and Transport combo and will require 2 optical cables or one optical and one Coax/BNC. One for Digital output (sound) and one for the Clock. The reason these sound so good is the Clock-Lock function that can only be enabled with an optical cable and a flick of a switch at back of the DAC. Once enabled a small red light is enabled on the CD player display as seen in the pic. Now you will be clock locked and can experience superior sound quality!
