Single Blade Lockback
Pocket Knife Babinga Wooden Handle
Here is a hard-to-find early vintage Estwing EKA Swedish pocketknife
with a beautiful Bubinga (African Rosewood)wood handled. U.S. Patent 4669188 is for
a blade mounting system in a single block wood handle with an adjustabletension pivot pen.
Lockback mechanism.
Very comfortable size and shapeof the handle.
It has a nice feel. Big enough to grip, easy tomanipulate.
This is a very nice knife that is no longer produced.
Theblade material is high quality 12c27 Sandvik Stainless Steel.
The blade is formed with a Scandinavian bevel which allow creation
of a very sharpedge. It is a bevel rather than a hollow ground.
The bladestructure is thin (see the pictures) helping make
this a relatively light knifefor its size.
Note the brass handle pins and brass lockback pivot pinshow
only on the right side of the knife.
On the left side you can seethe slotted top of the blade
pivot pin which allows adjustment of the tensionon the blade.
Marks/Hallmarks – EKA Sweden US Pat 4669188 (etched on blade);
Measurements – Roughly 6-7/8 (total length);
2-7/8” (blade length);
4” (closed length); 1/2” (handle thickness);
Material/Color – Stainless steel with Babinga (African Rosewood) wood handle with brass pins & pivot screw;
This piece is in like new condition
with little signs of use for a piece of this age!
