J.S. Finkel Bows
Johannes
Finkel is the fourth generation of the Finkel & Weidhaas bowmaking family.
He was trained by his father Siegfried, who moved from Markneukirchen to
Switzerland in 1952. His grandfather was Paul Weidhaas – who studied with
Bausch and Fétique in Paris before opening his own workshop in Markneukirchen.
Johannes
completed his apprenticeship and then worked for some years at J.&A. Beare,
Hans Weisshaar in Los Angeles and William Moennig in Philadelphia. He returned
home to Switzerland in 1975. Johannes took over his father’s the workshop in
Schwanden/Brienz and now works with three other talented bowmakers: Werner
Ernst, Marcus Fischer and J.M. Lüthi.
Finkel bows have gained recognition among musicians worldwide for their consistently superb quality.
