With Italian text on verso. -- in very good condition. || Cesare Vecellio (circa 1521 circa 1601) was an esteemed Italian engraver and painter during the Renaissance era, notably active within the vibrant artistic milieu of the city of Venice. Hailing from Cadore in the Veneto region, Cesare was closely related to the renowned painter Titian, being his cousin. Their familial connection also led Cesare to accompany Titian to Augsburg in 1548, where he likely served as his assistant. Notably, several of Cesare's artworks were mistakenly attributed to Titian, indicating his close association and possibly collaborative efforts with the master painter. Among Cesare's surviving works is a modest Trinity painting housed in the Milan Pinacoteca. He ultimately passed away in his native Venice. Beyond his artistic pursuits, Cesare gained recognition for his contribution to the world of costume illustration. His publication "De gli Habiti Antichi e Modérni di Diversi Parti di Mondo," published in Venice in 1590, showcased intricate woodcuts depicting attire from various cultures across the globe.
