This book of poetry, was written in the 1930's by Mississippian Kate McAlpin Crady, who was white.  She used the dialect of uneducated White and African-American people of the Deep South to show the injustices of the time.  Though the language and descriptions may be hard to read, the author was trying to show the pain that she witnessed during that time.  This book provides a voice to the people of that time. Which is very courteous of her. And she is way of her time. Just like the people,  the book been through a lot and will have a great place in your heart ♥.
