I am offering for auction a lovely antique oil painting on canvas, +- 1920, quite large.

There are a few fine cracks, craquelure', because of the paintings old age. {  Is not that bothersome, see pictures }.

This painting has been recently cleaned and vernist. very nice!

The painting shows a beautiful outdoors view - charming landscape with a woman and cows near a river.

There are also more cows in the background and a windmill.

The painting is signed lower leftside, Piet Bouter, { Pieter Adrianus Bouter, ( 1887 - 1968), is a famous Dutch painter

see for more info. below}.

Size of the canvas is, 15,8 x 31,5 inches. 

The beautiful frame is also antique, it is showing  signs of wear because of its old age. { Cracks in the corners}.

Size of the outside of the frame is, 23,7 x 39,4  inches.

Bouter, Pieter Adrianus (Piet), born in Gouda 28 May 1887, died in the Hague 16 September 1968. Lived and worked in that city, Veur until 1937, then in The Hague. Has mainly formed himself. Painted landscapes with cattle, heathland landscapes with sheep.

De kunstenaar, wiens loopbaan het grootste deel van de vroege tot midden 20e eeuw besloeg, heeft zijn eigen interpretatie van het impressionisme ontwikkeld, beïnvloed door, maar onderscheidend van, zijn Franse tegenhangers. Zijn voorstellingen van het Nederlandse landschap zijn verrijkt met een gevoel van nationale identiteit en een persoonlijke toets die zijn werken tot gewilde objecten voor verzamelaars maken.

Dit schilderij belichaamt een periode waarin traditionele kunst fuseerde met vernieuwende technieken en blijft een waardevol onderdeel van de Nederlandse culturele nalatenschap.
