"The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a novella written by Robert Louis Stevenson and first published in 1886. It tells the story of a respected London lawyer named Gabriel John Utterson, who investigates the strange occurrences surrounding his friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll, and the mysterious and sinister Mr. Edward Hyde.

Robert Louis Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, born in 1850 and died in 1894. He is best known for his treasured novels, including Treasure Island and this book, the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

This edition is not dated. There are some indications as to the date of this book. On the front free endpaper there is a pen inscription dated ’36, and so I believe it to date to 1936 or earlier.

The red faux leather-bound limp cover is intact and robust and in a very good state for around 90 to 100 years old. There is just light wear, more-so at the edges and corners, and a little on the boards. There is also soft bumping to the corners, some small marks on the cover, and a gentle lean to the spine.  Please see the photographs which I have provided for further reference. There is a gilt emblem on the front board and gilt lettering and decorations on the spine.

The inside of this book is in a good condition for its age. The pages are lightly tanned and are in an overall neat and clean state for their age, and predominantly uncreased. There is just very light foxing on the title page and a couple of the preliminary pages, and the very occasional small mark, crease, or small fold. There are no rips to the pages. Other than the afore mentioned pen inscription on the front free endpaper, there are no pen or pencil marks within this book. Pages 209 to 212 inclusive are loose within the book, but present, and the other pages are tightly bound and secure.  There are no missing pages. All 254 pages are present. Please study the photos carefully as to the condition of this book, as they do form part of the description.

This measures approximately 15.5 cm by 10.8 cm and 1.9 cm wide. It weighs approximately 220 grams.

Thank you so much for looking.
