For your consideration is this vintage candy bowl produced by Goebel Porzellan GmbH of Bad Staffelstein of West Germany during the 1980s. I've attached a newspaper advertisement posted in The Californian and dated 10-May-1984 for reference on when this was made available in the US for purchase. The bowl is an absolute stunner and may have originally come with a carousel top lid but has since been separated. The dish has a smooth texture on the inside and stippled on the exterior on the flat surfaces. Around the dish are frosted 3D Horses and Menagerie figures fashioned very much like a Victorian carousel. The "jumpers" include two elephants, two roosters, and two horses. The only "standers" are two swans. A spiral column separates each of the animals. Below them, is a 3D scalloped design. It measures 7 inches in diameter x 3.4 inches tall with a depth of 2.5 inches. It is quite heavy and weighs 3 lbs 11.9 ounces. There are no chips, cracks or abrasions observed, but did notice some air bubbles encased inside the glass. The candy bowl does contain 24% PbO (Lead Oxite), so one would be wise to simply use as a bread dish or candy dish. Also a lovely idea is to use the vessel for a short vase for roses....imagine how beautiful that would be in a baby shower tablescape or Mary Poppins theme party.
