Relive the summer of '96. Football coming home, Baddiel and Skinner on the radio, Gazza's sublime volley against Scotland and Southgate's penalty miss. It was football at its very best, hosted in the UK over a long hot summer.

We have managed to secure a small number of the 1996 UK issued £2 football coins, released back in the day to mark the historic moment in British sporting history when England hosted the European Championships for the first time.

Released by The Royal Mint in the run-up to the 1996 UEFA European Championships, this £2 coin was struck in the era before all coins of this denomination were bimetallic. It features the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabeth. The coin edge inscription reads 'THE TENTH EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP'.

It's coming home!
