Very rare legendary Soviet vintage watch Raketa Polar
In 1969 the Raketa Watch Factory received an order for the development and production of special watches for Soviet polar explorers - participants of the 16th Soviet Antarctic Expedition. Since the polar day and the polar night reign on the icy continent for six months, the watch required not only increased strength, but also a special 24-hour mechanism that made it possible to distinguish day from night.
The designers of the Raketa Watch Factory have developed a case with an unusual design: lugs of a special triangular shape and an unusually thin bezel! It was a complex 4-piece body construction with a special plexiglass fastening system. On the dial with a 24-hour scale, the designers have placed two poles of the Earth. On December 10, 1969, this project was officially approved and signed into production by V.M. Rogachev is the deputy head of the Soviet Antarctic Expedition, who also certified him with the seal of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute of the USSR.
This watch model was intended primarily for Soviet polar explorers and was difficult for ordinary Soviet citizens to access. Therefore, it was produced in small quantities, and very few copies have survived to this day. To this day, collectors all over the world consider these unusual historical watches to be one of the rarest Soviet models!
