Beginning in the late 1930's, Anne & Frank Warner traveled along the eastern seaboard from the Adirondacks to the hills & Outer Banks of North Carolina collecting folk songs. The result is one of our major American folk song archives - nearly a thousand songs. The songs themselves would be enough, but this is a book full of Anne Warner's scholarship and thoughtful treatment of her subject. Frank Warner's photographs will take you to a far off place.
