Papua, Lakatoi, SG117 Rare Deep Carmine with tail flaw, see notes for details

Note # It's stated that only 8 sheets of 40 exist yet personnel research would put that figure closer to 20 sheets. The color trail was carried out on a few sheets left in stock at the Port Moresby Post office while they were waiting on fresh stock of the base stamps to arrive, during the trail printing they ran a few in the Deep Carmine color before determining that it was to dark and then changed to the normal Carmine. Normal Carmine make up the balance of the 1000's of sheets over printed and before they changed the color to Carmine they picked up 3 flaws one of which was position 39 Tail Flaw. this example is an imprint block of 6 with position 39 Tail Flaw so that would make the flaw 1 of a possible 20 something stamps that are known to exist.

Photo does not do justice to the real color. Some topicalization due to humidity in PNG, all examples known to have the same.

I have recently purchased several other great collections and will be selling them off over the next few months.

I will post up to 10 lots for the same postage cost

Value of shipments over $100.00 AUD requires registered postage only
