All pieces are cushioned and loaded giving them a nice stability and agility on the board.

Handsome late 19th century or early 20th English Staunton Pattern chess set by F.H. Ayres - the quality of carving on the knights is very similar to Jaques of London.

Beautiful toffee patination.

King Height 6.5cm

Chips/ damage to the black queen (coronet & base).. also black knight and his lower jaw.

All in all a very nice set bar the two pieces mentioned above.
