MIRIAM HASKELL ROPE: GRAY BAROQUE PEARL RED MONTÉE FILIGREE GILT BRASS ACCENTS

For your consideration,  a string/strand rope length necklace designed and hand made for Miriam Haskell CIRCA in the 1950’s-60's

The necklace features  gray baroque glass pearl.  The pearls are are two sizes;  the smaller are each approximately 8 x 10mm, and the larger round baroque pearl are each 15mm in diameter.  The large baroque pearls are caged with gold gilt filigree bead caps. Additionally, these pearls are stationed by Siam red crystal rose montée clusters.    Tiny gold gilt ribbed brass spacer beads are between the pearls.

The necklace fastens with a gold gilt brass box clasp with push tongue latch. The box is signed “MIRIAM HASKELL”.  The box clasp is decorated by a  large 25mm baroque mabé pearl.

The beads and brass accents used in construction of the necklace are of the best quality and contribute to its smooth finish, exquisite beauty and well preserved condition.  It will appreciate in value over the years if gently worn and carefully stored.

It will go around the neck at least two  times, depending on your neck measurement.  It also drapes beautifully with other necklaces of pearls and art glass stones as many of the Moghul 's of the Asian continent wore them in that era.

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT: All measurements are approximate and taken at longest/widest points.

Necklace ~   43½”L including the box clasp.  It is reasonably heavy and weighs approximately  194 grams.

CONDITION: Please note this is pre-owned 1950-60's vintage jewelry which has been gently worn.  It originally belonged to a relative and has been in storage in a dust free and temperature controlled storage facility since I received it. The necklace is gently worn and looks well preserved.

The faux baroque pearls are well preserved.   The gray nacre of the pearls have retain a beautiful sheen.   There is no observable bruises, cracks flaking, stripping or peeling of the nacre.  The crystals in the montée clusters are well presersved with a beautiful rich red color, and none missing.   The underside of the box clasp has slight wear  and tarnish as the necklace is over  55 years old, however, nothing distracting or unsightly and the piece is still quite beautiful and appealing to the eye.   The mabé pearl has two tiny flea size spots of wear, however, they are hardly noticeable and consistent with vintage jewerly.  (See pictures).

The latch fastens securely. The nacre of the large mabé baroque pearl on top of the box clasp has minor wear, however, it is still quite beautiful. The gold gilt brass accents of the necklace including the box clasp and tiny gold gilt spacer beads are slightly tarnished, but not distracting or unsightly.   The threading has no fraying or stretching.

Please note that tarnish and patina are part of the nature of brass and this develops over time. The tarnish of the box clasp may be cleaned, but, it does add to the vintage charm and it is not distracting or unsightly.  It will not soil your garment.

Additionally, also REMEMBER, THAT MOST  VINTAGE PIECES ARE FRAGILE DUE TO AGE and should be gently worn  and  handled with care.
