I am offering for auction a excellent antique oil painting on a thick oak panel, +- 1890.
The painting shows a stable scene with chickens, it is finished very finely.

The painting has some fine craquelure because of its old age.{ This is not bothersome though, see pictures}.

This painting is signed lower leftside W.L. { Wilhelm Albertus Lammers,  Born in Aalten 1857- He died in Ginneken 1913}.

Wilhelm was a self taught artist specialised in scenes with poultry He painted these animals predominantly in their natural surroundings either in the stable or the meadows. Until the end of the 19th Century very little attention attention was paid to the housing and care of fowl. Chickens usually roosted in a haystack of in a tree. This artist could depict these in lively form on the canvas or panel. Work by his hands hangs in the City Museum at Harderwijk.

Size of the oak panel is, 4 x 6.2 inches.
Size of the outside of the frame is, 8 x 10.2 inches.

Both the painting and the frame are in good condition for there age, only showing light signs of wear.
