Miner’s Family Sculpture Plaque signed by Robert 'Bob' Olley.

Size 10inch tall x 7.5inch wide and 2 1/2lbs weight

This cold cast sculpture captures the iconic imagery of a British coal mine worker and his family.

The miner’s family includes his wife and children with the baby’s pram, dolls, the young son’s hoop and stick toy and the family dog, all sculpted in relief against the backdrop of the pit buildings and coal wagons.

Born into a mining family in South Shields, North East of England and having worked down the mine himself, Robert Olley is a renowned artist.

He has produced works for a number of high-profile figures including South African former president Nelson Mandela, former UK prime minister Tony Blair, US author Bill Bryson, playwright Alan Bennett and comedian and author David Walliams.

His work shows an exceptional level of detail in the casting – please zoom in to examine.

Complete with acrylic display stand.

Although pre-owned, this sculpture is in excellent condition.

I've kept the dimensions and weight in imperial measurements given the historic context of this sculpture.

Cold-Casting is a term used to describe the process of mixing metal powder with a resin to create castings that create the substantial look and feel of solid metal. The metal cold-cast process is also known as "bonded bronze" and is an alternative method to the foundry casting of molten metal (lost wax process).
