Official review(s) from happy buyers who purchased
vintage POLO GREEN COLOGNE/ EDT
from Guardianofthefragrances!:
(I am aware of the stark differences between Warner 'Cologne' Cosmair 'EDT' formula's. Both are in my personal collection.
Due to my experience with both formulas; I have successfully sold both vintage versions to a large customer base as well as 'crossover' bottles that contain Warner juice in Cosmair bottles.
Distributer listed can't fool me - I know my formula's.
Since I sold both versions - I included positive reviews for both.)

Highly praised vintage fragrance merchant & longtime eBay member since ©2004.

Click that positive feedback section & check my customer reviews!

No, seriously! - My customers leave PARAGRAPHS lol.
I LOVE what I do, and I do it BETTER.

"Bravo to a truly exceptional seller and experience! I've been an Ebay member for over twenty years and this is one of my very favorite transactions. Guardian of the fragrances offers unique, rare products. Communication with the seller and description of the cologne are exceptional. The fragrance was lovingly packaged, including a couple "extra" gifts that were charming. Nathan even wrote a kind, personal note of appreciation. I look forward to working with him again, and you should too!"

"I am a return customer. Another perfect order. The item arrived in perfect condition and as advertised. The seller provides plenty of pictures in each listing. Plenty of description in each listing as well. The seller's communication is great and is more than willing to answer any questions that a customer may have. The item was packaged in layers of bubble wrap. The seller also included a courtesy card and a complimentary sample. A pleasure to do business with. A+"

"You have zero worries buying from the Guardian. He really is the truth. It's like going back in time and buying your bottles brand new. Super knowledgeable. Quick replies and shipping. Nothing but good things to say. Customer for life."

"A very pleasant transaction. Seller's openness and his informative listings and plentiful pictures are a far cry from the typical eBay fragrance seller who tend to offer little if any info and a pic or two from near useless angles. Guardianofthefragrances does it the way it should be done! Really, way to go! A++++++++++++. Almost forgot to mention the freebies!"

"I'm so happy with my Vintage Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio. Exactly as Nathan described. Packaged very well and extremely fast shipping. Best Vintage Fragrance seller on eBay by a mile. I will continue to keep buying off this great man. I'm so happy again with my purchase. 1OO% Thank you so much."

"This guy is the Star Lord of the Guardians of the Fragrances! I won the auction, then immediately paid. As soon as I hit send of the payment, there was a knock at my door. It was the cologne from him. It was that fast! Hopefully I'll get to meet the Gamora of the Guardians next. Want to see if she is green all over...I mean ALL over."

"This is my tenth (10th) vintage fragrance purchase from this trusted seller. A 1997 125ml bottle of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male! Nathan always provides extremely fast shipping, a fair price for rare vintage fragrances, excellent communication, and secure packaging! Free bonuses included in the packages. I will definitely keep doing business with him again in the future!! A+"

"Great experience all around. Seller was very responsive and polite when messaged and the cologne arrived quickly and was exceptionally well packaged. My husband took one sniff and said it was exactly what he remembered from high school and he could instantly picture being in the mall and the clothes he wore back then. He’s very happy for this olfactory “time machine”."

"This was the best buying experience I’ve had on eBay ever. I’m not exaggerating. The seller is so knowledgeable, nice and helpful! Went above and beyond to answer all my questions, address all concerns, and the product was better than expected! Arrived early, packaged very well. I am very very happy. I will buy from him again without a doubt. Thank you!!!"

"I could not be any happier with my purchase. Not only was it packaged with care but an absolute amazing seller!! Extremely knowledgeable within what he enjoys doing which is giving an in-depth breakdown towards vintage vs. current formulations. Vintage perfumes are like stored wine for many years and still packs a powerful punch. Nevertheless, I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys hunting vintage fragrances and see his listings. P.S. He even gives a 5ml sample with your purchase!!! Thanks A+++"

"Purchased a rare vintage bottle of original Polo “green,” cologne. Smelled even better than described in its “original release scent!” 100% Accurate Description!! Smells amazing!! Great Price, Lightening Fast Shipping all the way to Australia!! Dynamite Packaging!!Super detailed and friendly communication answering all of my typical “Fraghead,” questions!! A++ Seller all the way!!!"

"Incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, genuine, and approachable regarding any and all questions. Also gifts a free sample of choice with purchase! Sells ONLY genuine vintage fragrances, so rest assured. I love how he enlightens the buyer as to why vintage formulations are superior to modrern ones regarding ingredients used. Overall a 10/10 seller. Would definitely buy from again!"

"Undoubtedly one of the best fragrance sellers on ebay. Very welcoming and polite. Top level knowledge in what he is selling (in this case vintage JPG Le Male). You can be sure that he knows how the fragrances are suppose to smell and wont sell any sour/bad fragrance to make easy money. Got answers on all my questions and alot more. Best tracking I had so far in a order, very frequent updates. Very fast delivery to europe in only about 2 weeks. Highly recommended seller!"

"Easily one of, if not the best cologne/perfume sellers on EBay. Nate probably knows more about scents than most of us know. I consider him a olfactory savant. The item I ordered was delivered in extremely speedy fashion and came exactly as promised. Also, amazingly enough, he lets you pick out a small sample out of 25 or 30 scents that he sends in the package for free!! So awesome. The price was right and the transaction was simply perfect. One of the best Ebayers out there; hands down!!"

Why should you spend SO much on a fragrance?
(I know you are asking yourself this if you are new to all this).

✅UNLOCKS STORED MEMORIES IN THE BRAINS HIPPOCAMPUS
Fragrances have an olfactory fingerprint. The brain is so intelligently designed - that it stores a fragrance DNA's composition precisely to the very last ingredient used at that time. Try to smell a modern formula and see what happens - it's almost as if your brain gets confused, offended, and low key upset. Only that special formula composed 10-20-30-40 years ago is the key to unlock vivid feelings of nostalgia.
BETTER QUALITY, INGREDIENTS, PERFORMANCE, & ARTISTRY
Made in times prior to cancel culture regulations, production politics, corporate greed, & making man made chemicals for profit; you get the authentic formula(s) the perfumery artist(s) intended from that time resulting in more naturals, less synthetic/cheap aroma chemical alternatives, richer compositions, bolder presence, more layers/less linear, and made in times where smoking was indoors- you get NUCLEAR performance.
SMELL BETTER AND OR HIGHER QUALITY THEN OTHER MEN AROUND YOU.
In a mass society unaware of vintage fragrances - you will absolutely without a doubt outshine whatever they are wearing. Gain respect, stand out, be the most attractive smelling in the room. In general this is what makes the male gender so enthralled with colognes but vintage amplifies this to the next level. Stop endless YouTube searches seeing if something modern performs - just buy vintage.
INVEST MORE IN VINTAGE TO SPEND LESS OVER TIME ON MODERN
Vintage fragrances are stronger and need less sprays due to concentration; 72% vol of alcohol (28% oils) in 1995 vs. 88% vol of alcohol (12% oils) in 2023. It's not a coincidence they are removing vol %'s on colognes nowadays - they don't want us to know how weakened they are. Many collectors go niche and get into strange off-putting DNAs not realizing they can simply go designer vintage.  Beautiful mass pleasing DNA's in the best quality and strength possible. The best way to go forward in perfumery is to go backwards.
If you buy a vintage- You will realize a bottle that would have lasted you a year is now lasting you over 2+ years. Think about it- you are going from essentially a modern day 'body spray' (Modern edt) to a powerful parfum strength niche like juice. Once you go vintage it's illogical to go back.
VINTAGE FRAGRANCES NEVER LOSE THEIR VALUE & *INCREASE* OVER TIME.
Because of the mass, devoted, & awakening population of the vintage fragrance community; vintage fragrances are a collectible commodity matching similar value in precious paintings, antiques, jewelry, gemstones, diamonds, and gold! Unlike most things you 'drive' off the lot; this fragrance will likely be MORE in 2-5-10-15 years. This is my favorite part about being a collector; my purchase investments lack buyers remorse on as I am buying an investment for the future/ and or discreet savings to liquidate as needed. It's as easy to trade fragrances for cash as it is to liquidate your cash for gold.

(Reformulation talk...)

Unfortunately,

In a modern era's effort to make the small allergen pool of the population safe for the bigger masses
(essentially a 'Safe than sorry' approach for everyone);
Harsh fragrance regulations came into effect within the last 20 years in the EU (United Nations) where nearly all fragrances are still composed.

The SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety), IFRA (International Fragrance Association) & the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) banded together to axe many precious naturals, and unique aroma chemicals in perfumery that have irritants to a small pool of the population.

To this day every year it seems another ingredient is banned as these chemical giants are auditing Chemistry materials on what seems like an unnecessary 'Woke movement' cancel parade. To play nice and to still get credibility for selling 'Safe' fragrances; all Designer perfumery houses have played with these giants to get full EU support of their product(s).

Between 2010-2022;
The EU has now banned over 2,000 chemicals in the body, skin, hair, & fragrance industry.
This massive chemical ban in body products is more than any other world region in history!
In comparison, the United States has banned only 17 ingredients from body products made in the USA.
Unfortunately for fragrance enthusiasts, a VERY small percentage of designers make their fragrances in America.
By 2030; the EEB (European Environmental Bureau) anticipates over 5,000-7,000 ingredients to be banned in total.

Rules, reformulations, synthetic ingredients, cost-cutting, & keeping up with modern scent trends have altered, & reduced the performance of many popular favorites from the past.
This is not a theory or paranoia, this is becoming more evident & informative in the fragrance community since the rise of fragrance communities and fragrance Vloggers.
Since this rise; vintage formulas are hunted and highly sought after by hobby-ists.

Many are so used to newer compositions they have no idea what they are missing.
vintage EDT formulas are well known to perform more like intense concentrated essential oil strength NICHE EDP's.
Newer formulations of the modern age are said to perform like a end body spray with average performance but no character development.

DET Vs. DPG:
A chemist in Germany did a gas chromatogram composition breakdown on a vintage & modern day version.
It was found that companies used to use a solvent Diethyl Phthalate (DET) on vintage versions which was known to have a stronger bonding fixative effect on the skin. Modern day fragrances are replaced with Dipropylene Glycol (DPG).
DPG is commonly used in lightly fragrance'd shampoos and DET is in home candles. Candle companies don't use DPG as the fragrance would immediately leave the base.
Makes you think.

The death of Oakmoss:

By far one of the most controversial and damaging IFRA regulations was the ban/limitations in natural Oakmoss. This popular ingredient is in near every legendary cologne; Davidoff Cool Water (Also reformulated), Aqua Di Gio (Also reformulated) Versace Eros (Also reformulated). Many are filled with weaker synthetics. Since Oakmoss rests in the base and has fixative effects fragrances also don't perform as well without it.

2022 Lilial ban:

And if you thought your top / mid notes were safe. You're wrong. In 2021 The Scientific committee on consumer safety (SCCS) & the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) banned the note of lilial due to its reaction to sensitive skin (That's it?).

They simply stated "It can sometimes act as an allergen." SOMETIMES?

Lilial was a common note in modern perfumery. Lilial being a synthetic aromatic soapy aldehyde;  it gave the self titled signature Versace Pour Homme it's sweet yet refreshing intense floral green odor.

I don't understand this obsession with making sure the skin doesn't react to materials. Practically every face mask on the market 'Reacts' to your skin and in the long run - improves it's appearance.

Doesn't skin strength train like muscles do?

Fragrance shelf life scam:

Reformulations are one thing, it's something that just can't be avoided.

One of the biggest gaslighting scams on the otherhand that can easily be avoided is the myth fragrances naturally 'Expire/go bad' due to time alone.

Fragrances are not your local produce guys, they are a balanced chemist composition of naturals and fragrant chemical aromas full of preservatives.

If that alone wasn't enough; that recipe is then preserved in a percentage average of 80% ALCOHOL. resulting in 'maybe' 10% natural ingredients to think 10% natural ingredients are up against and a threat against 90% chemical aromas, preservatives, and alcohol is a HUGE stretch.

Alcohol based fragrances should be compared to 50-100 year old bottles of preserved and cherished wine. Like wine, fragrances in fact get better with age from the process of maceration; when naturals soak in chemicals for extended periods of time making the juice richer and full of character. Fragrances are not fresh hand made cosmetics with no preservatives - quite the opposite.

Fragrances were even recovered from the 1912 Titanic wreck with no sign of expiring.

A perfumer perished in the wreck resulting in a sachet left behind on the BOTTOM of the ocean for over 100 years.

This sachet contained mini corked bottles of fragrant oils and perfumery. In an artifact examination room upon recovery, amongst the death, muck, tragedy, and solemn sorrow of decomposing materials the perfumery was opened up and by surprise brought the room to LIFE again, aromas of beautiful fruits, florals, resins, and woods sourced from so long ago.

The experience was so powerful to the scientist- it made a grown man cry.

Fragrances can be mishandled, left in sunlight, heat, and other neglectful extremes...but most certainly don't go bad from just the passing of time.

I guess any myth works for these fragrance industries that want you coming in to buy their 'fresh' bottles.

The modern day scent:

I say all that to say; modern day fragrances as a whole - are complete and utter trash...

whether that be a brand new composed scent or a reformulation of a classic.

The modern recipe:

Fake citrusy candy-like tops to lock you in, aromatic-mids to give you masculinity and bare minimal classic nostalgia, then a base gob-smacked with scratchy ambroxan / synthetic molecules completed with nauseating sweetness to ultimately gaslight you so don't notice how 'fake' the entire composition smells.

It's truly depressing what they release nowadays.

You might as well wear your household cleaner.

(All about RL POLO GREEN)

Wardrobe category is!;
Argyle sweater at the country club in 1980's Connecticut.

Up for buy it now is the nostalgic vintage Ralph Lauren POLO (Green) cologne.

History was made in the late 70's with what is known as one of the very first designer mainstream colognes for men.

The mystique of this 45 year old fragrance DNA still mystifies the fragrance community.

The nostalgia it brings to many (including me) is just one of those classic masculine fragrances that will never be forgotten- so much so I can see this DNA being recycled in future generations like fashion once the 'old man' associations wear off.

This is a timeless DNA with no harsh animalic notes seen in comparable drops from this timeline.
There's just something about pine, tobacco, leather, and moss that is so comforting yet fresh and sporty.
Comforting, protective, masculine energy.

Nothing on the shelves today compares to the vintage formulations; no flankers, inspired scents, or even the modern day version compares.

Deep Vintage Warner Polo is complex and devine and nuclear.
Smells like dark earthy crisp unapologetic masculinity.
Complete and utter masterpiece.

Olfactory manifestation of a dark rugged lumberjack smelling liks crisp cold hard cash, dark moss, pine tree sap, leather jackets, and earth itself. Unreal. The scent of a mans cabin in the Northern hemisphere.
So amazing niche and life-like - unlike anything today.

If you have only tried modern day- you should give this another try;
The modern formulation LUXURY LLC version smells like burnt tires - Not good!
Modern IFRA bans prevent this from being what it used to be.

This timeless note composition is perfect for the upcoming fall, & winter.

Fresh sparkly pine, tobacco, & leather BOMB.

Perfumer:
Carlos Benaim
(Other notable works; Creed Green Irish Tweed, Davidoff Cool Water)

Scent style:
Aromatic leather Chypre

Mood/Season/Time/Occasion:
Regal cold weather all day signature scent

Note breakdown
Top: Juniper berries, basil, artemisia, caraway, coriander, bergamot
Mid: Pine tree needles, leather, chamomile, pepper, carnation, geranium, jasmine, rose
Base: Tobacco, oakmoss, patchouli, cedar, vetiver, musk, amber

(Specific listing details)

Vintage fragrances are well known to give errors on batch code sites to place the year.
Some codes don't even work at all, give you a 10 year repeating code, or blatantly lie to you and make something up.

I can place this as early as 1984 and as late as 1985 due to the 3 digit code, bottle details, Polo istributer history, juice color, and of course the scent!

Please email me if you have more questions about the dating process.

Tested one spray on my wrist for testing purposes.
This Warner formula is almost impossible to wash off!
12-24-48 hour + bomb! Nuclear B E A S T.
Smells & performs like it should.
Modern gives you 4-6 hours and smells like a burnt tire.

That DANK mossy leathery pine in the base just sits  - moves in with you and refuses an eviction.

This 40 year old bottle is in MINT condition.
The only flaw to mention is the bottom sticker; fully readable with just some bubbling and debris collected over the years.
Just adds to the vintage charms.

Bottle is considered a 'travel' size due to it being slightly less than the average 59 ml. size (only by 15 ml's), as well as having a more resillient industrial black screw cap. This wasn't added - these came this way. The shiny gold caps dented easily and were not very travel friendly.
No original box.

Please note:
-This is Polo Green WARNER ' COLOGNE' formula in a COSMAIR CROSS OVER over bottle, see above for more details on this.
-Bottle is new and only missing a few drops with a clean syphon for testing purposes.
- Black cap is factory released with the size and marketed as a travel bottle. There is no gold cap version with this listing.
-Bottom sticker has some bubbling and has gathered some debris over its life - perfectly normal and part of the charm of vintage bottle collecting.
-No original box/cellophane included - will pack item like a professional mover and ship securely.
Please be aware of these quirks prior to purchase.

Just holding this observing it you can feel its vintage charm.
This bottle has been cherished and preserved for over 4 decades.
Bottle looks as if it just left the factory in 1984 so it is a time capsule from 40 years ago.
Great collector's piece!

I personally suggest this ultra rare collectible and piece of history for your collection.
Experience the original WARNER formula of POLO!- it's well worth it.

This historic vintage formula is a long-lasting investment in your personal grooming arsenal, ensuring that you'll always be prepared to make a lasting impression.

Item comes from my own private collection.
This is a hard sell - if you are a fragrance collector like me - you know the inner battle.
Grab it before I change my mind.

About me:

My name is Nathan,

I'm a mid-western Wisconsinite living in downtown Milwaukee. In the Midwest comes all four seasons in their highest concentrations; from Arctic temps in to heat-waves. These extremes have helped me properly test & explore a range of fragrance DNA's.

I have been a 'frag-head' my entire life; from 'Mr. Sketch' 12- pack scented markers as a child, Bath & Body products in my teens, & discovering LUSH handmade body products in my 20's. Now in my 30's; I Collect fragrance formulas from all houses & timelines to master my olfactive memory.

I have a particular passion for vintage designer fragrances due to their ability to remember our past. They are time capsules; from societal pop culture to the memories of our relatives; vintage designer fragrances are the closest humanity has came to immortality. Designer are not only more mass pleasing in general. In a world so based in science- can't think of anything more magical.

Along with this touch of magic- comes what I like to call 'pseudo-science' perfumery; the opposite of magic and time travel. There is nothing more disheartening than when our magic potions get distorted and reformulated with cheap alternatives & synthetics. This distorts our scent memory and leaves us confused and questioning our memories.

It's fascinating to me how the IFRA (International fragrance association) is allowed to influence fragrance houses to alter their compositions yet governments & administrations allow tobacco products and junk food to be sold to the public and slowly kill us.

What is even more shocking; these fragrance houses and companies not only 'obeying' these IFRA recommendations, but they are training their retail sales floors & Customer service phone reps to downright lie about such changes and misinform the public and gaslight you. This is UNACEPTABLE!

As a private investigator in Revenue Protection for over 10 years; I efficiently investigate/ validate facts, debunk fraud and confirm authenticity of the incoming product. I use this while searching and validating vintage fragrances! These scattered lost remains are a calling to me- something to rescue, revive, and guard which is where I self discovered the 'Fragrance Guardian' name.

Perfumers are artists and their compositions are works of art in their true original forms. I feel its my legacy to not only inform the fragrance community about such formulations; but keep them alive and well by providing them to the retail market & sell them to appreciative homes.

I feel my unique combination of my sales degree from the state of Wisconsin (class of 2010), 10 years of investigative experience in Revenue Protection, and a deep passion of fragrances give me an efficient, special, & trusted service in the fragrance vendor market.

As your fragrance guardian- I give your memories eternal youth.

"Buy this vintage fragrance; and your memories will never grow even one day older. Don't buy it, and continue to watch the past fade. Siempre viva - Live forever!"

This is especially true in a niche business like vintage fragrances where fraud detection and studying/collecting fragrances is necessary. I have very high standards for what I post in my vintage fragrance shop. In fact, that was my vision when I launched my store; to offer reliable selections for collectors & enthusiasts.

Everything I list has an expectation as if it were to be added to my own personal collection. (And in most cases - that's where I pull my listings directly from).

Essentially, when you come to my shop, You are purchasing formulas already inspected by a revenue protection expert, and collected by a highly selective, and critical collector. You virtually can’t get any better than that if you want a vintage formulation of a cherished fragrance.

Despite everything in my listings being my own personal research, experiences, and in my own words…I’ve seen many other sellers on eBay copy my entire listing title, & large portions of my listing description verbatim. This tells me I am on my way to being to being the pioneer and self-starter of vintage perfumery sales.

Belief is the enemy of knowing.

I Don’t simply believe – in what I’m selling – I know what I’m selling.

(Buyer satisfaction disclaimer)

Additional to my stellar expertise and reputation,

ALL my vintage fragrance listings are tested, authentic, properly stored, well preserved, & suited to personal taste/ memory.

My listings are in quirky vintage ‘as-is’ conditions with antique charms of possible bottle blemishes, misc. cosmetic ‘flaws’ and with various fill lines. Some with original packaging, some without.

All these vintage quirks are carefully described for each individual listing, and I leave no room for surprisesNot in the listing images, nor their descriptions.

Because of the type of products I sell & the need for thorough fragrance testing, NEVER will you find a fragrance unsprayed/untested & completely sealed in cellophane.

For you to be confident about your purchase,

It is highly suggested that you:

Research reviews on the vintage formulas.

(My own seller feedback, Fragrantica, Basenotes forums, YouTube, Facebook groups, etc.).

Obtain travel sizes first of vintage formulas first

(Elsewhere such as Esty).

Make yourself aware of vintage re-formulations *within* vintage eras.

(See: ‘Vintage eras within vintage eras’ below).

Understand the historical use of ‘Polarizing/daring’ ingredient choices made by perfumers for men of past generations.

(The 80’s was a dramatic movement in outlandish masculinity).

Remember that silage scent clouds were up against secondhand smoke in clubs.

(Colognes were made for their scent cloud during these eras, not to necessarily to smell perfect up close).

OR

SIMPLY Blind buy ‘Open mindedly’ with the expectation you may not be satisfied with the DNA.

(& also understand since its authentic and well preserved that I am not at fault of a letdown).

(Personal conclusions on 'Blind buying' disclaimer)

As mentioned above,

‘Close minded blind buyers’ are known for putting expectations and fantasies upon what a fragrance 'may' smell like - to be pleasantly surprised.

 OR

The complete opposite; emotionally distressed, confused, disappointed, defensive, and invested into putting the blame somewhere other than toward themselves becoming a ‘test and return’ buyer and tarnishing the seller record with negative feedback.

When choosing to 'blind buy' vintage fragrances from my shop, It is helpful if you have some sort of olfactory memory of these DNAS for the many reasons I mentioned above and will mention below in separated sections.

This is especially the case if you are a curious blind buyer with high-expectations, and an emotional outcome.

Just to clarify though, If you are an ‘open-minded blind buyer’ (Huge difference). Then you have come to the right place.

(The SOCIOLOGY of 'daring' ingredients disclaimer)

Statements the fragrance community is not new to hearing:

X "It's spoiled, putrid, something is off, it's gone bad."

My response:

"VERY UNLIKELY."

You are simply confused about what you are smelling.

To be clear:

80's, and 90's fragrances amplified notes like sweaty cumin, pissy animalics (In some - hi Kouros!), and over all had a more unapologetic masculine, and a purposely somewhat 'offensive' character in an artistic manner in low quantities - not only to distinguish a bigger barrier between female and male perfumes but to also combat environmental stressors like indoor smoking.

I can steady sell 30+ bottles of vintage Le Male, or countless vintage Acqua Di Gio PH's, and still have that one blind buyer who comes back and says, "It smells off/ spoiled."

Fragrances used to smell sweaty in comparison to today’s formulas.

These aren't your modern regulated ambroxan/ sugary bakery bombs.

Case in point:

‘CK one’ was the first Designer unisex not launched until mid-90's,

At one point all male fragrances were a little daring – CK one was basically saying – here’s the first ‘safe’ male/unisex fragrance.

Friendly polite male colognes are a NEWER concept if you really look at perfumery history.

Not to mention:

After years of distributer gaslighting on how reformulations ‘never happen’, the POA symbol (period after opening symbol) being used on fragrances. (yet having no scientific validity – a mix of 10% naturals and 10% synthetic aroma chemicals expiring in a concentration of 80% alcohol? Yeah OK), as well as YouTube influencers pushing a ‘notes gone sour’ narrative, Gives a very delusional mass conclusion and lack of understanding on how fragrances age in the fragrance community. Retail chains want you paranoid ‘everything has gone bad’ so you rush to the counters and buy their ‘fresh fragrances’.

REMINDER:

SMOKING AND ‘FRAGRANTING’ INDOORS WAS ALLOWED!

🚬

Young or old,

It’s still easy to remember that INDOOR smoking use to be allowed at all restaurants & nightclubs

With secondhand smoking being everywhere - fragrances HAD TO BE DARING and contain competitive base notes to make a statement. This was especially easier to do in a pre-IFRA regulation era.

Not only were macho masculine notes a must in decades past, nor were IFRA regulations an issue - but they had to up the stakes so to speak for cloudy smoking stink fog that marinated in public spaces of the past.

My take is it seems fragrances were originally meant to be smelled in a scent trail/ silage cloud –

not as much up close.

Total opposite to today’s perfumery.

(Vintage eras WITHIN vintage eras disclaimer)

ALSO please make note of vintage eras *within* vintage eras that occurred for reasons other than IFRA regulations.

(Distributer changes, ingredient sourcing, general improvements, tweaking notes to stay current with trends, ect).

For example, there are stark differences between vintage Obsession for men 80's (Darker) vs. 90's (Sparklier), Drakkar Noir 80's (More patchouli) vs. 90's (More lemon), Le Male 90's (More sweaty cumin & vanilla), vs. 00's (More herbal and fresher), Polo Green 70's (Sweeter pine, Darker base) vs 80's/90's (Ashy-er, more aromatic).

(The list goes on and on for deep vintage fragrances).

I cannot stress enough how important it is to know the formula you are buying when investing into a vintage fragrance. One moment you are confident in your purchase, and then you get a different 'era' in the mail, only to become another unsatisfied blind buyer that remembers slightly different characteristics.

('Uniquely aging' disclaimer)

This section is a bit fluid – and on the New Age ‘Wu Wu’ side - not really backed by science.

But something I notice here and there in perfumery.

Fragrances MAY smell slightly different in character when comparing one vintage bottle not due to mishandling but depending on how it was ‘Natured’ & ‘Nurtured’.

(Stick with me - trying not to make this weird LOL).

This could be due to glass color, weather patterns, temperature, the ‘energy’ of the home from which the bottle came after years of being in the space, in combination with and/or fill the line of the vintage bottle.

(MACERATION: The more air a fragrance gets as it's used- the richer it becomes!).

For this reason - POSSIBLY expect unique and subtle minor differences in character when comparing them to other identical formulas in your collection from the same timeline.

For example:

I sold a 15% full Le Male years ago that was uniquely different somehow than my newer bottles in a way I couldn't explain.

The way it 'lived' its life sort of gave it a unique personality. Despite it still smelling like good ‘ol Le Male.

I sort of wish I held onto it.

Additional to that:

We all have different noses, memories, observations, moods, and things to compare an item to.

Don't like the aroma today?

Get a good night’s rest,

‘netipot’ your sinuses,

Boost/improve/ Re-grow your olfactory nerves after a cold,

(Sense of smell needs to re-wire if damaged and smells can seem off).

wear the fragrance appropriate to its purpose and season it was meant for,

and try again tomorrow!

You feel me?

(Buyer abuse disclaimer)

Buyer abuse NOT tolerated in my shop:

-'Drive-by' negative reviews without personal contact.

(Let’s talk about why you are dissatisfied with what you are smelling – I likely have a lengthy sociological/ scientific explanation that you likely need to hear after years of distributer lies, reformulations, misinformed mass hysteria, and past poor buyer experiences – I’M NOT THE ENEMY!)

-Blind buy 'Test & return' escalations.

(I'm not your test shop).

(We as a vintage fragrance seller community are providing you a service, EVEN if that entails you confirming you don't like a DNA if you make the decision to blind buy it.)

-Buy & immediate cancel events.

(I’m charged a fee for your buyers remorse non-committed purchases).

(Negative feedback disclaimer)

When considering leaving negative feedback at the end of your experience, with

Guardianofthefragrances;

Ask YOURSELF these questions:

"1. Was I open minded from the beginning and willing to take a risk and 'blind smell' time capsules from the past?"

"2. Did I make this error and buy the wrong vintage formula my brain remembers?"

(ALL of my listings have a precise year of production - did you date your memories prior to purchase?)

"3. Did I reach out to the seller before leaving negative feedback to try to understand what happened or did a leave a blind-sighted negative review?"

"4. Am I about to review the product by mistake on the seller’s feedback page?"

(I am not your personal 'Fragrantica' or eBay product reviews page to rant if you don't like the DNA. Visit the correct outlet to tell the world how this fragrance isn't your thing.)

"5. Is my seller really to blame with this outcome or is he just a target of my dissatisfaction?"

By purchasing a listing from guardianofthefragrances,

You agree you have taken a considerable amount of personal time within yourself before you make your purchasing decisions and / or negatively reviewing my service.

And by possibly blind purchasing from me,

you also agree that my service to you is to provide authentic well preserved vintage fragrances in a friendly manner in a timely shipping speed. Not to be a target if you possibly don't enjoy the DNA and/ or vintage era it came from.

(Buyer satisfaction conclusion disclaimer)

Vintage fragrances are AN EXPERIENCE guys, I’m not saying vintage colognes are scary, they’re really not.

But if you are heavily indoctrinated to modern perfumery - you must be open minded and give yourself time to understand older fragrance nuances.

Vintage fragrances aren't for everyone - and I'm ok with that - And you should be too.

 Unfortunately,

I CANNOT tell you if you will like what I sell, or if it will perfectly match the memory imprinted in your hippocampus.

That is THE fragrance journey. But I am happy to provide a service to help you on that journey. Because I am on that journey as well.

I hope by viewing my detailed listings, and knowing the formula you are buying, You own a beloved discontinued fragrance for years to come.

Please email me if you have any further questions.

(Theft / scam disclaimer)

Item you purchase will be video packaged at the post office and shown taken into the hands of a USPS worker on one streamed video and kept on a file in my backlogs.
If you are considering pulling a refund scam on me - just know I have worked in revenue protection for over 10 years and have experience with malevolent fraud attempts.
No funny business & return scams.

(USPS Signature required disclaimer)

USPS SIGNATURE REQUIRED ON DELIVERY - NO EXCEPTIONS

Please note *All* my sales will be *required* to have signature required at the time of delivery. This is a USPS cost that will be out of my own pocket to not only have documented receipt of delivery for the seller but to also assure your expensive package will not be left unattended in public for theft.

I can sympathize with how inconvenient this can be at times as un-signed for packages are held at local post offices however this is as necessary as car insurance for your valuable car.

USPS now offers digital signatures on your packages if you have an 'Informed delivery' account registered to your delivery address. This means you don't have to be home at time of delivery if you digitally sign for the package and authorize postal worker to leave the package as normal.

Keep in mind having a digital signature leaves the BUYER responsible for all applicable theft scenarios and not the seller as the package will be delivered as 'Delivered & signed' in eBay's eyes.
Keep this in mind if you digitally sign for your package, the item gets stolen, and you try to open up a case against me.

See your local USPS location or website for further info.

(International shipping disclaimers)

Shipping to the country of Europe:

In the past, my listings have been flagged and taken down for not following what's called the 'VeRO Parallel Import Policy'.

Anything going to the EU (European Union) or EEA (European Economic Area) from USA needs 'Permission' from the brand/company I am selling despite the item being purchased and personally owned by me.
This policy ONLY applies to the country of Europe when import shipping from USA to the EU.

I have stopped automatically listing my fragrances as available to ship Europe due to these flags put on my shop.

I am still selling to Europe but by personal email request ONLY and by alternative shipping measures which we can discuss when you reach out to me.

Again,
I am still selling to France, Germany & Europe but only by request to prevent flags. Please email me with shipping options.

International VAT taxes:

From my experience; VAT taxes are automatically added to the sale depending on the country.
For example; in the last 90 days NO VAT taxes were added to my Denmark & Finland sales HOWEVER VAT taxes were added to a recent New Zealand sale.

This causes confusion as buyers are concerned about being double charged by Customs in their country which is understandable but I am not your direct source for a solution since every country is different.

If you fear being double charged VAT taxes, I can do two things;
1. verify whether or not VAT taxes were added to your sale by looking at your invoice.
2. Recommend you take your invoice directly to customs within your country to make sure they don't double charge you.

Please note eBay doesn't get US sellers involved in VAT tax concerns in general.
All efforts put onto my part are from my own personal courtesy to promote my shop globally.

Please contact your nearest postal carrier or international customs worker for further questions.
