This stunning antique brass weight was made around 1630 to check the weight of a 1 Double Crown gold coin worth 11 shillings. It depicts King James I though the coin was most likely made after his death, and during the reign of King Charles I. It is in stunning condition with the clearest details of any of the coins of this period that we have come across. It is recorded in Withers Book of British Coin Weights under reference 809, and rated "R" (Rare).
