This handsome pottery piece was produced at the Stangl Pottery Factory, originally the Hill Pottery Company, founded in Flemington, NJ in 1814.  Hill Pottery was a utilitarian pottery company, specializing in earthenware drain pipes and storage crocks.  The company was acquired by Abram Fulper in the 1860’s and converted to the production of utilitarian stoneware instead of earthenware.  In 1929, the president of Fulper Pottery, John Stangl, changed the company name to Stangl Pottery and developed artistic hand-painted and glazed ceramic artware and dinnerware.  The pottery ceased operations in 1978.

This bright green vase measures approximately 7 ¼” in height by 6 ½” in width, including handles. It is marked on the base with the incised “Stangl 3103 U.S.A.” mark which indicates it was produced sometime between 1937 and 1941.  This Art Deco-style vase is in very good condition with the exception of some manufacturing flaws and some discolorations.  There are no chips, cracks, crazing or any evidence of damage.
