The lovely verse, Count the day lost whose low descending sun views from thy hand no worthy act done, came from an old sampler. It is a sentiment we should all try to follow.

In addition to cross stitch, the following stitches are used: backstitch, closed herringbone, colonial knot, cross stitch over one linen thread, half cross stitch, smyrna cross, tent, and vertical closed herringbone stitch. If desired, cross stitch can be substituted for many of these stitches.
