Up for sale is a reproduction of a classic Norman style longsword of the eleventh to twelfth centuries.  Maker unknown. The hilt has the 'brazil nut' pommel of Oakshott's type A, wire-wrapped leather grip, and simple straight guard of flat almond shaped section. The deep fullered blade is Oakshott's type XII, with a maximum width of two inches, total length of 33 and 3/4 inches, overall length 40 inches. The blade is well tempered and flexible.The sword only weighs a bit over two pounds despite its size, the result of the deep fuller. Comes with historically accurate leather covered wood scabbard.
