**History: One of the nation's oldest summer camps, Camp Sapphire, was located here in the 1920s. In 1945, local businessman Harry Straus purchased the property as a gift for his employees and community, turning it into a place for recreation and outdoor education. For decades, people came here to hike, swim, picnic, play tennis and enjoy being together.
