20 Persian Saffron Bulbs - Best Quality!

!!! PLEASE NOTE!!!: The bulbs(corms) will be shipped during the month of July as they have not been harvested yet! We guarantee 100% freshly harvested and dried bulbs ready to plant and we guarantee flowering in their first year around late October early November.

Harvest your own top quality saffron from the first year! Saffron is a unique and delicious, gorgeous smelling spice, usually used with rice dishes, especially Paella but also for desserts. Save £££ by producing your own!

Once received you can plant the corms immediately in the ground around 10cm apart, preferably in a sunny spot in the garden, they usually do not require watering at all unless the weather is very dry, no special care instructions, make sure there is no grass around them which can suffocate the plant and it will flower less. Other than that they do not require any other care and attention!

To harvest: pick the saffron flower preferably but not necessarily in the morning then gently remove the stigmas with your fingers and make sure you only collect the red part as it is the best quality and most valuable. Each corm will produce one flower which will produce 3 stigmas, that's why it is the most expensive spice in the world! Once removed, placed the stigmas on a clean paper, for example kitchen towel and either dry in food dehumidifier at 45 C for 2 hours or just leave in a dry sunny place a few days until it dries naturally. Once it is dry (press the stigma with your fingernail and if it breaks easily it's ready) place the saffron in a glass jar, put a piece of kitchen roll in it to absorb any remaining moisture and close the lid, keep in a cool, dark place.

How to use: take a few stigmas and place in a small glass/container with warm water, soak for 5 mins then add to the dish or to finish a dessert you can just sprinkle on top for decoration.

Flowers: you can also dry the saffron flower and drink as saffron tea - it is as delicious as it looks!
