Welcome... For the taking is the pictured Antique PARKER BROTHERS PING PONG SET No. 85...

in its ORIGINAL BOX...

I know next to nothing about this item... I am selling it for a recently retired friend who tells me only that he got it at an auction many years ago and has had it sitting in a box in his basement ever since. What is easily observable to this naive observer follows below...

* Looks to be not quite complete; going by the pictured "contents sheet," it would appear to be missing two "plain bats" (paddles) and one "post"...

* Comes with everything you see pictured; including quite a wealth of literature and promotional inserts...

* As pictured; there is considerable splitting along the long side edges of the top piece of the box. As I learned while trying to get everything back in the box, this is pretty much inevitable due to the fact that there is no way to possibly close the box all the way with the two base pieces in it; they are simply too big for the box, but it was closed anyway, leading to the splitting you see. I will ship with the base pieces not in the box.

* Box is made of a fairly light, flimsy cardboard...

* The latest of the dates found is 1932; I assume this to be from then or shortly thereafter...

* All Markings Pictured...

* The--mostly very faint--markings on the two balls are shown in the last 7 photos. The first 4 of these are of Ball 1; fairly bold handwritten owner initials--and faint PING PONG (and it is hard to tell if this is a factory or handwritten marking). Ball 2's even fainter, at best partially decipherable, markings are shown in the last 3 pics; all I can make out is a P starting a word (and this looks more like a--rather fancy--factory marking than on the other ball). They are a bit more clear than the pictures show; really hard to get the light just right to capture them.

* Please see pics for other observable details.

* Please let me know if you have any questions BEFORE bidding.

USED... Most of the game pieces look to be quite lightly used; though the previous owner put his or her initials on both paddles and one of the balls. No cracks or other issues with the balls. The literature pieces are quite clean and in otherwise excellent shape; except for the pictured staining on the "Laws of Ping Pong" pamphlet. The box is sturdy and functional, but does have considerable splitting along both long sides of the top--roughly 99% and 50%--and along pretty much the entirety of one side edge of the bottom piece. There is also that one pictured hole in the bottom piece--near the center of one long edge--and the pictured staining on the edges of the top piece. Corners of both pieces are fully intact and strong; no splitting.

Please inspect pics carefully BEFORE bidding and do not bid if you expect to receive items that are somehow "better" than the ones pictured and described here.

NO RETURNS... SOLD "AS IS" WITH NO GUARANTEE OF ANY SORT...
