“Empires have risen and fallen after the Great War, and Europe is on the brink of a new Era. The economy is robust, and the defenses are powerful. Sightings of strange soldiers with glowing eyes have been reported from the fields, but they seem distant and harmless…”
Scythe: Rise of Fenris, the conclusion to the Scythe expansion trilogy, consists of two game modes for any number of players (1-5 if you have Scythe; and 1-7 with the Invaders from Distant Lands expansion):
Campaign (8 games): Scythe's story continues and concludes with a campaign consisting of eight episodes. Although the campaign includes surprises, components to unlock and persistent elements, it is completely resettable and replayable.
Modular (11 modules): Instead of (or after) the campaign, the new modules in Rise of Fenris can be combined in various ways to suit player preferences. These modules are compatible with all previous expansions, and include a fully cooperative module.
The exact nature of the episodes and modules is partly a mystery (so as not to give away unlockable content, as most of the components are found in 5 locked boxes and 6 dies), but this expansion includes a detailed episode manual , 13 plastic miniatures, 62 wooden tokens, 2 personalized dice, 25 tiles and more than 100 cardboard tokens.
Set in a parallel reality in the 1920s, Scythe is a 4x strategy game for 1 to 5 players (expanded to 7 players with the “Invaders from Distant Lands” expansion). In a time of farms and wars, each player represents a character from one of five Eastern European factions, who are trying to make their fortune and claim their position in the land surrounding the mysterious “Factory.”
