I like
to think of these men as the first Harley motorcycle gang!
This a
rare postcard of the WW1 Army Motor-Cycle Brigade at their training camp, Camp
Dodge; located by Fort Dodge, Iowa. They are using Harley-Davidson motorcycles
with sidecars. This was a relatively new type of military brigade, referred to
as "Motor Mobile Infantry", but the army found many ways to utilize
motorcycles during the war - some had machine guns strapped onto the sidecars,
some served as ambulances, some lead convoys and others dispatched messages.
The
condition is good for a postcard of its age; it still has good color. It does
have light creases and the corners are a little worn, but these don't distract
from the overall appeal.
Standard
postcard size. Made of standard paper material.
