For sale is my 2003 ESP guitar Ltd series MH-50.

I bought this guitar in 2003 (when ESP/Ltd weren’t very common over here) and was my first ‘proper’ guitar after my starter Squier and saw me through my first bands and gigs as a college student some 20 years ago. I moved onto other guitars after I got working and have largely kept this one for sentimental reasons. However, I’m downsizing my collection, and this one has sat in a case at the back of the wardrobe for far too long and should really find a new home.

This guitar has had many different set-ups in its life but to prepare it for sale it has had a full clean, set-up and rewire of the electronics (it previously had EMGs which I removed to put in another guitar);

> Fretboard deep cleaned and lemon oiled.

> Light polish of frets (some tarnish remains, but beyond my skills to remove this).

> Brand new Rotosound Blue 10-52 strings

> Neck relief/truss-rod adjusted.

> String height/intonation checked.

> ESP LH-150 pickups from an EC-256 (these have chrome covers)

> Rewired with new volume controls and 3-way toggle switch (2x volume pots, no tone pot).

> General clean and polish of body with sticky residues removed.

As mentioned above, the guitar has been lightly modified. The non-standard parts are;

> Silver chrome licensed Floyd Rose tremolo and locking nuts (original was black chrome).

> Silver chrome control knobs (originals were black chrome)

> Truss cover from an EC-256 (the original was missing).

> 2021 ESP LH-150 pickups with silver chrome covers (originals from 2003 were also LH-150, but open coil).

> Silver chrome neck plate (original was black chrome).

> Pots are two volumes, one for neck pickup, one for bridge. Original were one volume, one tone (who needs tone controls for metal anyway?!).

This is a 21 year old guitar that has been gigged, it’s by no means in perfect condition. It’s in general good condition given its age and use but does have minor dings and scratches. I have tried to photo these as best as possible, they include;

> Small dings and chips on headstock.

> Two cracks in the finish down either side of the neck (the guitar fell forwards in a gig bag, I had it checked by a professional at the time and the damage is cosmetic only and not through to the wood)

> General belt buckle rash on the back.

> Some paint chipping above the strap pin on the rear of the bod, this has been touched up and sealed with car lacquer.

> A few very small dings in the neck.

> Frets are mostly in good condition but there is some wear and tarnish on a few of them. Doesn’t affect playability.

Sorry for the essay, but you can probably tell this guitar has some sentimental value to me and I want to be as honest and open about its state and condition for any potential buyer.

All in all, it plays really nice, perfectly for gallopy, thrashy metal! This guitar retailed for £399 in 2003 - £700 adjusted for inflation! I saw a broken/in bits one of these sell recently for £100 so my pricing reflects the general good condition and set-up of my guitar.

I have packaging materials from a recent guitar purchase, so can ship this in an appropriate well packaged box. Listing also includes a basic white strap I had lying around. I also welcome collection in person!

Shipping is via APC, shipping price includes insurance up to selling price of guitar.
