A dessert plate from President James K. Polk's White House china service, dating from 1846. The plate was manufactured by Edouard Honoré of Paris and supplied to the White House by Alexander Stewart & Co of New York. This is one of the 120 dessert plates and serving pieces. This beautiful and rare piece is from a local collection here in Philadelphia. The plate is 9 inches (23cm) diameter, and has some typical stacking wear and scratches and wear from normal use. The scrolling rim has 3 small chips and a few tiny rubs and flea bites, and the foot ring on the bottom has 2 chips (the tip of the pen is pointing to these). Please the photos for details.
