Description: The Southern Homeseeker and Investor's Guide was published quarterly by the Norfolk & Western Railway from 1909 to 1918. Each 11.5" x 8.25" issue has an attractive color-illustrated cover and contains 40 pages of articles and advertisements relating to agricultural prospects and investment opportunities in the area served by the Norfolk and Western Railway. Most relates to Virginia, but there is also content on North Carolina and West Virginia and occasional reference to states further afield. Articles cover topics such as fruit growing, wheat farming, dairying, success stories about specific farms, advice for prospective settlers, higher education in Virginia, what bankers' associations are doing to help farmers, boys' and girls' agricultural clubs, etc. This grouping includes Volume IV, Number 2 (June 1912), Volume IV, Number 3 (Sept. 1912), Volume IV, Number 4 (Dec. 1912), Volume V, Number 3 (Sept. 1913), and Volume VIII, Number 1 (March 1916).  Condition ranges from good to very good, with varying degrees of chipping, tears, creasing, and general handling wear, and a few detached wrappers. Internally all are very good. OCLC lists holdings of this periodical at only 6 institutions.

Condition Descriptions Defined: We grade our books and dust jackets using the traditional language of the antiquarian book trade. In brief: Fine is the highest grade and means essentially as new, without visible faults or defects; Near Fine means approaching fine, but with one or more very minor defects or faults, which will be noted; Very Good means the book shows some general (but not too offensive) signs of wear and use, which will be noted; Good means the book is complete and intact, but has more wear or some internal markings. Any ex-library book will be graded no higher than Good, even if it is otherwise a very nice copy. Again, all flaws will be noted. We rarely offer any books in Fair or Poor condition, but if we do, the reasons for the grade will be evident from the photo(s) and description.

Guarantee & Returns: All books are guaranteed as described and can be returned within 30 days for any reason. Please notify us in advance of any return.
