SlotIt CA27a MATRA-SIMCA 670B LeMANS 24 HOURS 1974 1/32d Scale Slot Car

This 1/32nd scale model represents the #8 Matra-Simca 670B from the 1974 running of the 24 Hours of LeMans.  One of four Matras entered in the S 3.0 Class by Equipes Gitanes, it was driven by Jean-Pierre Jaussaud, Bob Wollek, and Jose' Dolhem, all of France.  Alfa Romeo had been dominant earlier in the season; but when they failed to show up at Circuit de la Sarthe, the Matras were expected to win.  Indeed, they qualified 1, 2, 5, and 6, with the #8 car taking 5th on the grid.  Four laps after the start, the Gitanes team were running 1-4; and ran strong into the night.  However, within an hour of each other, two Matras lost their engines.  This car, the second from the team to drop out, completed only 120 laps versus the 338 laps of the winning Matra.  The livery is French blue with red and white accents.  Tires carry Goodyear branding.

This model comes in its original shrink wrapped display box.  The drive train is a rear-mounted sidewinder motor.  Other features include a traction magnet and compatibility with both SlotIt's Oxigen and Scalextric's System ssd Sport Digital digital control systems.  A digital chip is NOT included.  The car was purchased by me from the brick and mortar retailer.  It has never been run since being purchased.
