Hornby R1038 Orient Express The Boxed Set

Available for purchase is a barely used Hornby R1038 Orient Express The Boxed Set from the collection of a senior collector which comes with Locomotive, Illuminated Pullman Carriages, Track, HM2000 Controller and bumph etc...

Hopefully, if you're looking at this listing you know why these 'posh' train sets are much better than the standard ones you can buy.

The locomotive, rebuilt Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2, "United States Lines",  is in great condition and has very little wear and performed perfectly  during testing.

The carriages are the newer aluminium Pullman cars and do not appear to have been out of the box; I have tested one which worked great. Being the extra detailed ones they look great and roll lovely, have sprung buffers and illumination. As they are new the couplings are all present. They are named Minerva, Cygnus and Ibis.

The track is in very good condition and has all the sleepers and fishplates present, most of it looked unused. As a precaution I've cleaned it all with 2500 grit paper in case any manufacturing reside was left on there for years which would lead to poor conductivity.

Being a posh set you get the R8012 HM2000 double track power controller which works much better than the cheap one in other train sets and feels nice under finger.
