THE PIRATE’S WARD KNIPE & KNIPE MARGUERITE DE ANGELI ILLUSTRATIONS 1929 1^ST PRTG DJ.  Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: “The Summer Islands now known as the Bermudas were in the early 18^th century the center of pirate activity.  Captain Heath a pirate who carried on a successful business in these waters found himself the guardian of a small English heiress.”  I am pleased to offer: “The Pirate’s Ward” by Emilie Benson Knipe and Alden Arthur Knipe.  This small hard cover book (5 ¼ x 7 ½ inches 267 pages) was published by The Macmillan Company of New York dated 1929 and according to my reading of the copyright page this is the First Printing of the First Edition.  The book was illustrated by Marguerite de Angeli including the endpapers- the frontispiece and three other full-page plates. The book is bound in bright yellow cloth with black titles on cover and spine and protected by a printed paper dust jacket.  Please see the photos of the Table of Contents and List of Illustrations for your further information.

Condition:  This book is in very good condition.  The dust jacket has as is anticipated bore the brunt of the wear and tear.  It is soiled-darkened and has penciled writing on it.  There is also some edge wear with a one-inch chip out of the right edge.  The hard covers show some very minor bumping at the bottom spine tip but are generally clean and bright and sharp.  Inside a former owner has left her inked name on the half title page but that is the only mark I found in the book.  Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound.  This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

Shipping:  This book will be very carefully packed, with bubble wrap and with solid cardboard for their protection and promptly mailed upon payment.  Please note that I do not charge for packing and handling; all you pay is the postage.  Media mail postage for this small-sized hard cover book will be only $4.30.  Within the US for domestic mailings, combined shipping for multiple purchases is gladly offered.  You will pay full price for the shipping of the first book and half price for any other that same week.  For example, two books with shipping at $4 each will ship for $6 combined.
