CLAES OLDENBURG WRITTEN BY BARBARA ROSE FOR MOMA EXHIBITION 1970 SOFT PLASTIC RARE.  I am pleased to be able to offer a rare and rather unique Catalogue for an exhibition of the works of Claes Oldenburg held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York from September 25 to November 23, 1969.  The book is bound in high-gloss soft plastic covers which resemble the material used by the Artist himself for some of his “soft” versions of common household items as can be seen in the Catalogue (such as the soft toilet and soft bathtub!).  This large soft cover oblong book (14 ½ x 8 ½ - 222 pages) was published by MOMA dated 1970 (doubtless a First and likely only Edition) and was distributed by the New York Graphics Society.  Please see the photo of the Table of Contents for your further information.  As is fitting the book is very well illustrated throughout with examples of the Artist’s work in both b&w and color.  Laid-in is a separate paper copy of the “Checklist” for the Exhibition (of a similar oblong shape & size).

Condition:  This rare book (only one copy seen online) is in very good condition although its odd makeup of soft plastic has led to certain issues.  The soft covers are buckled and bent but still whole and very presentable (please see the photos).  They are also still high-gloss and supple.  There are a few specks of soiling but nothing serious (nor probably visible in my photos).  The last few pages are a bit dog-earned on the bottom edge (now straightened but still showing the crease).  The book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright throughout.  The binding is still tight and sound although thoroughly supple.

Shipping:  This book will be very carefully packed, with bubble wrap and with solid cardboard for their protection and promptly mailed upon payment.  Please note that I do not charge for packing and handling; all you pay is the postage.  Media mail postage for this large and oblong soft cover book will be only $5.50.  Within the US for domestic mailings, combined shipping for multiple purchases is gladly offered.  You will pay full price for the shipping of the first book and half price for any other that same week.  For example, two books with shipping at $4 each will ship for $6 combined.

The eBay site has become so popular that it is difficult to find your way back to a seller with an interesting array of listings.  Please consider “book-marking” my site so you can see a constantly changing inventory of other truly vintage books and/or collectible works.

Please also be aware that all my current listings are “spring-summer season” listings held here in New York.  Once it starts getting cold here in Upstate New York, I will head back to Florida and switch out these listings for another catalogue of different books held there.

Please don’t hesitate to send any questions; I will monitor closely and respond promptly.  Thanks, and enjoy.
