This lovely matching pair antique brass coin weights are from the early Victorian years. They were made to check the weight of 1 and 1/2 sovereign gold coins and have a blank reverse with a raised rim. They are in unusually good condition, and are identified in Withers Book of British Coin Weights under references 2291 (a and b). The last picture shows one of them being used to demonstrate a rare sovereign rocker balance that is also listed for sale this week.
