This is a superb and rare 19th C Japanese heavy solid silver pill box constructed from two sword or tanto fittings namely the fuchi and kashira.
The workman ship is really wonderful and is signed to the bottom.
The decoration of dragonfly is wonderfully achieved.
The lid fits precisely and is another sign of the sheer quality of this very tactile object which would make a great addition to a good Japanese collection or could be used today.
