This unbranded [typically, the brands are removed on most WWII military pieces, especially if they were sold off after the war], open faced pocket watch is in very good shape for its age and is cased in what appears to be a nickel/silver alloy case. It is double-marked on the back and the bottom perimeter with the correct symbols for Canadian Military use during WWII...the 'C' with a broad arrow and accompanying numbering. The movement is a 15J with the namer also removed, but still signed '15 Jewels' and 'Swiss Made'. My educated guess is that this is a Buren Grand Prix movement, but I'm open to correction. The watch winds, sets [stem wind/set] and runs well and is keeping good time, though I have no idea when it was last serviced. Overall case condition is very nice for a service piece with low wear throughout, including the bow and crown. Case diameter is approx. 51mm [US 16 size]. The single sunk porcelain dial has a sub second hand at 6 o'clock and huge, large military style Arabic indices, as well as large hands and has also been de-marked. It has no hairline cracks and no visible chips...it looks excellent. The crystal is new acrylic, so is the only part non-original and it looks great. Overall, this is a very clean example of a vintage service timepiece from over 80 years ago. It'd make a fine addition to any collection, military or otherwise....you won't be disappointed!
