This is a rare first edition antique map titled "Turcici Imperii Descriptio" of the Middle East region, published by Abraham Ortelius in 1570. Ortelius was a famous cartographer and publisher of the 16th century. The map shows the Ottoman Empire and surrounding areas, including parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa.

You can distinguish the first edition published from 1570-1579 by the cartouche which does not have the two putti on the top. It is a valuable piece for collectors of antique maps and those interested in the history of the Middle East.

Photos of this map don’t quite capture how truly exquisite it is. The detail and craftsmanship are amazing for a map that is over 400 years old.
