You are bidding on a very rare original antique print from an 1880s French illustrated journal.

It depicts a springer spaniel dog or cocker spaniel hunting a woodcock. Back during this era, springers and cockers would come from the same litter. The smaller "cockers" hunted woodcock while the larger littermates were used to flush, or "spring," game. In 1902, the Kennel Club of England recognized the English Springer Spaniel amd Welsh Springer Spaniels as distinct breeds.

The caption roughly translates to:  The Woodcock

It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture area is about
8.5 x 5.5 inches (21.5 x 14 cm), with a French caption below and text above it. The text could easily be trimmed before framing, or hidden under a window mat.

The page is in excellent condition for its age except for a barely noticable soft bend in the middle of the paper, This would flatten with framing. .
There is text/photos on the back of the print. See scan for an accurate view of the condition.

This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
