You are bidding on a large original antique print from an 1880s illustrated journal. The quality of the printing from that era was exceptional.

It depicts a joyful pioneer family in their first home on America's Frontier in 1880. They have a cabin next to a beautiful lake with steer, pigs and chickens. On the back side of the print is a Poem About the Picture, entitled "Far Out in the West."

The term Frontier Strip is correlated to the 1880 census, where these six states, some of which were territories at the time, were part of the "Frontier Line," sometimes taken to be the 100th meridian west, the geographic designation by the U.S. Census Bureau that proclaimed where the civilization of the Eastern United States ended and the historic American Wild West began. The modern states included in the frontier strip were: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas.
