Using the MH-53C Car Charger

The Nikon MH-53C is a charger for the Nikon EN-EL1 Li-Ion battery used in many Nikon Coolpix cameras. This charger can be connected to the DC outlet of a vehicle and allows the camera's battery to be charged when standard AC outlets are not available. It takes approximately two hours to charge a fully discharged battery.

The MH-53 can be used with vehicles that provide either 12 or 24 volts through the cigarette lighter socket and with a negative ground system . For complete information and instructions, consult the manual which comes with the charger.

Usage:

  1. Insert the battery into the charger and slide the lock to keep the battery from falling out.
  2. With the vehicle engine running plug the charger into the cigarette lighter socket.
  3. The "Charge" lamp will blink while charging and remain solidly "on" when the battery is fully charged.

If the lamp flickers quickly, either the unit has malfunctioned (discontinue usage immediately) or is being used outside of its operating specifications of 0-40ºC or 32-104ºF.

The charger has a fuse to protect against surges. If the fuse blows, replace it with the same type and capacity only. It uses a 2A. 125V fuse. To replace the fuse, rotate the cap on the tip of the plug counterclockwise to remove, replace the fuse and then screw the cap back on clockwise.
