In my first introduction to the art of photography of Robert Mapplethorpe, I discovered his photographic theme of nude athletic male models touching their toes. The models reach for their arches, but stop just ever so slightly creating an amazing optical illusion. So impressed was I, that I set out to photograph the theme with a wide variety of models.
