This is a NICE SPECIMEN that is a JAPAN LAW TWIN QUARTZ CRYSTAL from WASHINGTON CAMP, SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, ARIZONA, USA. This is from the collection of a discriminating Middle-Georgia collector with an eye for aesthetics and quality. It was originally purchased from SCOTT J. WILLIAMS in 1994.These choice specimens now bear Dixie Euhedrals labels. This cost $35 in 1994.
This is a great example of a Japan Law Twin. The left-hand side seems to have a C-face on the termination. It is possible that the crystal grew up against another crystal and had it's normal growth interrupted. However, the face in question has normal growth hillocks similar to the rest of the crystal and that would seem to indicate that a c-face formed, or was created by dissolution etching followed by another stage of growth that created the final growth hillocks. If you don't understand this - please don't worry about it, as it is truly a complex subject - and one that I am not really an expert on myself.
Excellent twin form. The apparent C-face termination is certainly a positive addition.
