FINE ANTIQUE STEEL MOUNTED EBONIZED HARDWOOD TREASURE BOX

A particularly handsome late 19th century English box bench-crafted of mahogany with ebony finish.  Gothic Revival steel cutwork mounts and corner straps.  Dramatic brass encircled steel bosses at top corners.  Push-button opening on recessed 8-knuckle brass hinge.   Interior lined with padded silk velvet.

NOTE:  The box was originally designed to hold a pocket watch.  I removed the fitted wood panel at its hinge mount - facilitating use as a keepsake or jewelry box.
