Here we have a Jaguar B-type cylinder head ready for rebuild. This particular head bears the engine number LE24433-8 indicating that it originated on a 3.8 litre Mk2.
B type heads were also used on XK150 (not 150S), Mk 8, Mk9, Mk1 and S-Type.
As such it would be suitable for the various models outlined above. I imagine it will most appeal to a Mk2 owner who wishes to refit a genuine 3.8 Mk2 head with the correct engine numbering sequence to his 3.8 Mk2.
It will need to be rebuilt and you should note that 2 cam caps are missing. Waterways are much better than most from this era which makes it a good starting point for rebuild. It comes with valves, springs and cam buckets. These were loose when I collected it from a deceased estate so I cannot confirm if they are original to this head.
Please study the photographs which form an integral part of the description. These show the item from all angles. If you think I’ve missed something I’m happy to answer questions.
I will be clearing my garage over the coming months of an accumulation of rare parts gathered over a lifetime with classics. There are surplus parts for Jaguar – generally E-Type or XK 150 but also some for Mk2 and XJS. There will be a selection of rare Lotus and Coventry Climax parts from 1950’s and 1960’sincluding an Albatross Climax speedboat and associated spares, so if you happen to be restoring The Royal Yacht Britannia and you need the correct tender, this is the place! There are even some new original wings for Swallow Doretti as well as specialist restoration equipment, not least an original cast Ranalah Wheeling Machine otherwise known as an English Wheel (with recent new anvils/wheels). – If any of that is of interest to you keep an eye open for my other items.
Postage - or Collection Option:
Collection may well be easiest due to weight but I appreciate that may not always be convenient.
I’m happy to post anywhere as long as you pay the postage costs. Bear in mind that this auction site adds commission to postal charges which I need to recover. My objective is to break even on postage with no charge for packing.
It’s too heavy for the Post Office but Interparcel can offer a service – the expensive part is insurance in case of loss which is include in the quoted postal cost.
If I post the item the cost will be as follows:
Via Interparcel within UK £35.00
This includes insurance valued at the auction starting price
