Here is something a little different. A chance to own a piece of British Maritime History.

We have a rare 1679 Charles II Silver Groat recovered from the HMS Association Shipwreck that sank off the  Isles of Scilly on one stormy night in 1707. It is beautifully presented in an old  darkwood frame with the coin capsule and coin  itself inlaid into the frame. The frame measures 330mm x 280mm. The coin itself can be removed from the capsule in the frame to either  display the obverse or the reverse on the coin. The coin itself is in good condition to say that it had spent 260 years on the ocean floor until it was recovered in 1967/68. You can easily make out the monarch and other details including the date.  Iam not an expert but i think it would be graded very good if one of the edges wasnt affected by the ocean. The page displayed in the frame tells the story of the Association shipwreck and about  the Admiral,  Sir Cloudesly Shovell. The page looks old but i think it adds charm giving all an oldwordly look.to the piece.  Shipwreck artifacts are very well sought after but the Association wreck is of great interest to collectors and historians with interest in British Naval, maritime history. There are details and what looks to be the name and business premises who had owned and sold this piece, i presume. These pieces are rare as there can only be so many remaining and  do not come up for sale often unless at specialist auction houses. I have owned this and many other pieces of maritime history for many years and Iam reluctantly selling some of my collection off as with the framed pieces i  dont have any space to display them anymore whereas i can place my other  coins in books and binders, so it may as well go to somebody who will buy it for themselves to proudly display it in their mancave or study, or as a gift to somebody who is into unusual stuff as well. It is extremely interesting and unusual, but it is also a great conversation piece, and you will not come across many in your lifetime. Please judge photos for condition, as this is what you would be getting. £65 RESERVE.
