From "ART OF THE BOOT" by TYLER BEARD (1999):

"Pennsylvania native Scott Emmerich's first pair of cowboy boots were factory made Fryes.  Scott remembered, 'They were basic and clunky, but I loved them anyway.'  From these humble boot beginnings, something tugged at Scott's heart and a cowboy boot bond was formed.

"In 1980, like so many before him, Scott ventured westward, drawn to the cowboy boot capital of El Paso, Texas.  There he began designing and contracting various companies to build his visions in leather.  For two years Scott sold to retailers up and down the California coastline.  He also put on trunk shows to market his line across the Southwest.

"In 1994 Scott joined forces with Jerry Black and Carlos Salazar (who has since left the company) to form Tres Outlaws Boot Company.  Scott and Jerry are both sticklers for old-world technique and quality.  Jerry explains, "All of our cowboy boots are made entirely by hand, with hand-cut leather toe boxes, hand-pegged soles, and full hand welting."
