This lot includes 3 related memorabilia items that would combine to make a great themed display.

1) A Weldons of Peckham official NEMS Enterprises-approved Beatles cloth badge / patch, as initially made for exclusive use on the official Beatles Sweater. Measures 4 x 3 inches.

2) A full-page advertisement for the Kellogg's Rice Krispies promotion - 'The Beatles are coming for breakfast' - offering the badge from a summer 1964 issue of Rave magazine.

3) A (pre-)signed photo of the Beatles cut from a 1964 promotional Kellogg's Rice Krispies box.

The cloth badge is listed and pictured as item no 291 in the 3rd edition of The Beatles Memorabilia
Price Guide by Jeff Augsburger et al.

Pic 4 shows a complete promotional cereal box. (Pic 4 is for information only and is not part of this lot.)

Condition: Cloth badge /patch in excellent condition. Rave ad good, slight crease to corner. Box pic has drawing pin hole and some writing on reverse.

International postage quoted is for USA & Australia. If you live in Europe or another Word Zone it should cost less to post, so either ask for a quote before bidding or wait for a revised invoice before paying. I'll combine postage wherever possible. I'll also refund any significant postage overcharge.

Details:

The official Beatles embroidered cloth badge was originally available only on the official
Beatles sweater, and was the first ever non-photographic item of official Beatles merchandise. It was
marketed by Weldons of Peckham, initially via flyers sent to fan club members from autumn 1963
onwards.

An advertisement for the sweater then ran in the Beatles Book monthly magazine from
December 1963, issue # 5, onwards and then several less specialist music publications.

In spring 1964, Weldons gave in to demand and also started selling the cloth badge on its
own so fans could fix it to any item of clothing they chose... or just keep it as a souvenir.

In summer 1964, Weldons struck a deal with Kellogg's cereals to allow the cereal company to
use the badge in a promotional campaign for Rice Krispies: collect two packet tops and you
could order the badge at a reduced price.

From July, full page ads for the Kellogg's promotion ran in a select few music and teen interest magazines,
including Rave

Please see my other items. I try to list items of Beatles memorabilia / merchandise every week or two, so if you're
a collector, why not add me to your saved sellers list?
