Theodore Haviland made dining ware for the historical Hotel in Chicago known as the Palmer House. AS with most commercial ware, it is heavy, giving rise to the small nick on the back portion. Flowers of pink and bluish gray with leaves of tan and bluish gray leaves; scrolls of pink and bluish gray; Palmer House is shown on the front of the plate. Mont Mery is the mark of 1892, one of the first back marks used by Theo Haviland indicating that this was indeed one of Theodore's newest accounts starting up in business. 

NOTE: As with most commercial ware, it is heavy giving rise to the small nick on back of this Historical Commercial plate . Probably due to picking up the plate from the table or stacking. Nick could have been a manufacturing flaw due to the weight of commercial ware. Pic show nick, but not as big only pic emphasizing the area.
