Lisianthus - A special flower for any occasion.

Our Lisianthus plugs are well-rooted starter plants with only 2 or 3 pairs of leaves that come ready to transplant into your final containers or in the ground. We have planted this size plug on our farm for years, and they grow beautifully. This is the ideal amount of growth for transplanting a plug of this species because their roots are less crowded and not root-bound. Plants that are allowed to become root-bound will not grow as healthy long term. Although larger-sized pots of this species may have more leaves, this size grows very well and saves your shipping costs.

Lisianthus, or Eustoma grandiflorum, are flowering plants native to northern Mexico and the Great Plains in the United States.  Lisianthus is often used in floral arrangements due to its resemblance to a rose and its longevity. They have a long vase life and can last up to two weeks when they're cut and put into water, and maybe longer if you give them flower food. They're a great addition to your garden if you need help attracting pollinators and enjoy cut flowers. Bees, butterflies and hummingbirds will likely flock to Lisianthus plants all summer long. Because of its heat endurance, It has become the "ace" cut flower for summer occasions. Businesses specializing in weddings, funerals, and ceremonial occasions have been in demand for years, and it has become an indispensable standard cut flower.

Lisianthus is an elegant yet heat-loving plant native to USDA ZONES 8-10, it doesn't like direct afternoon sun. The lowest temperature Lisianthus can survive outdoors is 10F. If you live in zones colder than 8, you may need to bring your plants inside until the temperature warms up again. But we have experimented with Lisianthus outdoors in zone 7 where our farm is. We were able to save it (75% survived for the past 4 years) with a thick layer of mulch until the following spring, but keep in mind that it needs to receive plenty of light.

***Please understand that these are living plants. We try our very best to pack & and ship out the healthy plant as soon as we receive your order. However, depending on how long it takes and what happens during the shipping process, the plants may have some brown leaves or damage. It’s all normal if you buy plants online, especially during summer time. Some plants can go into shock from shipping or different growing conditions. They usually will bounce back when watered and placed in partial shade for a few days. There is an instruction paper with your order, so please read it when you open your package. The plant you will receive may be slightly different from the photos in the listing since no two plants are the same.

Please notify us with photos of the package and plants right away if you receive a plant that is damaged more than the normal stress of shipping, as stated above.
Thank you.
