DETAILS:

Case:            ‘Wrist Alarm’ model. Very sophisticated and noticeably different with a unique and unusual design. Original and signed BULOVA on the back. The stainless steel bezel and two part case back have been cleaned & repolished and fitted with a new acrylic crystal. The case back has an almost mirrored finish. In general the case looks great with only modest wear/scratches commensurate with the age of the watch. The case is NOT waterproof.

Crowns:       Original, signed ‘Bulova’ showing some wear.

Dial:             The dial has been professionally refinished in a two-tone silver tone design. The quarter hour positions are marked with numerals whilst the remaining hour positions are angular markers an interesting design detail is that these are tapered to work with the camber of the dial. The ‘Bulova’ name, ‘Wrist Alarm’, Waterproof’ and ‘swiss’ are in black. The hour positions along with the hour and minute hands have been relumed and now glow well in the dark. Despite what it says on the dial the watch is NOT waterproof.

Hands:         The hour and minute hands are original, pitched ‘Dauphine’ style. The sweep second hand and alarm hand are also original both being blue/black steel with the latter having a red arrow tip.

Movement:  BULOVA high quality Swiss manual wind movement. This is a fine classic 11AERC calibre with 17 jewels marked ‘M0’ for 1960. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and is running well, keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended.

Size:            Round, approx. 33.74mm in diameter. Approx. 40.42mm lug to lug.

Band:           A new 18mm black leather band with stainless steel buckle has been fitted complementing the timepiece perfectly.

This is a truly remarkable example of a Bulova ‘Wrist Alarm’ manual wind watch from 1960 which has been restored to appeal once again – and as I’m sure you will agree, it certainly does. The repolished case with eye-catching dial makes the watch highly attractive and very noticeable indeed. The watch has a distinctive classic look and feel that simply cannot be found in newer watches.

• This is a vintage manual wind watch with a movement from 1960 and as such it will not have the accuracy of a contemporary quartz movement therefore perfect time accuracy cannot be expected. If you want a watch to simply put on and go – then perhaps this is not the best choice you could make – however, if you want a period timepiece that you can admire and enjoy on each occasion you wear it, then this is a great item.
